The Manager, Interconnection Services will participate in the regional generator interconnection process through the full life cycle of development and construction of projects, leading to successful execution of new generating asset growth across the region. The role requires collaboration with internal project developers, external entities (RTOs/ISOs, Transmission Providers, Transmission Owners), and review of interconnection standards, transmission siting feasibility, system impact studies, and Large Generator Interconnection Agreements (LGIA). Responsibilities
Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts to conduct interconnection analysis using PowerGEM, TARA, PSS/E, and ASPEN. Perform prospecting studies to identify optimal locations for generator resources across the region. Manage generator interconnection application process, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and timelines. Maintain proficiency in Transmission Provider tariff, interconnection standards, cost allocation methodologies, and network upgrade cost estimates. Verify and challenge System Impact and Facility Study results; participate in negotiations to reach reasonable resolutions. Conduct Day One analyses to minimize curtailment by optimizing network upgrade construction scheduling, resolving transmission issues, and supporting Limited Operation Interconnection Service studies. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including ISO/RTOs, developers, and utility companies, to facilitate seamless interconnections. Develop and implement strategies to optimize the generator interconnection process; monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements to inform strategic planning and decision‑making. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Power Systems, Transmission Planning, or related field. 3+ years of experience in generator interconnection, transmission planning, or related area. Power systems background with thorough understanding of transmission planning and NERC reliability standards. Strong understanding of RTO/ISO and Transmission Provider planning processes. Understanding of transmission policy, regulatory issues related to generator interconnection. Ability to communicate complex technical information succinctly to external stakeholders and all levels of management. Experience with equilibrium tools such as PowerGEM, TARA, PSS/E, and ASPEN including programming and automation. Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience and working relationship with California ISO and/or other utilities in the Western United States in a role related to generator or load interconnection agreements, utility and ISO interconnection study methodology, and transmission planning with focus in grid reliability. Experience in steady‑state thermal/voltage, short‑circuit, transient stability analyses using industry tools. Location
