Position Summary The
Sr. IT Business Analyst
bridges the gap between the Firm's business needs and technical capabilities. The role identifies, analyzes, and documents business and system processes and requirements to streamline operations and improve efficiency. It requires building strong internal partnerships to help business units leverage technology and drive innovative, next-level solutions. The Sr. IT Business Analyst ensures technology solutions align with the Firm's strategic goals and translates business needs into actionable IT deliverables.
Position Responsibilities
Conduct in-depth analysis of business processes, data flows, and system landscapes to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
Document current and future-state processes, develop functional and technical requirements, and, with PMO resources, create workflows to support project execution.
Lead and facilitate workshops and meetings to gather requirements, identify gaps, and achieve stakeholder consensus.
Oversee requirements gathering and documentation of functional and technical specifications; collaborate with PMO to convert these into detailed project plans.
Drive process improvement initiatives to reduce complexity, improve user experience, and increase operational efficiency.
Build and maintain partnerships with key business and technical stakeholders to understand needs, strategies, and priorities.
Identify opportunities for IT to deliver value through innovation and enhanced capabilities.
Serve as a collaborative bridge between IT and the Firm's business units to align technology initiatives with goals.
Ensure end-user satisfaction by translating business needs into IT deliverables and maintaining open communication throughout projects.
Support change management initiatives and assist in creating user training materials and conducting training sessions.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of key applications (e.g., practice management, document management, timekeeping, collaboration tools).
Maintain standard operating procedures, user manuals, and documentation for application systems and workflows.
Key Competencies
Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Excellent written and verbal communication, able to interact with all levels of stakeholders.
Proven ability to map, analyze, and optimize business processes and implement innovative solutions.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and project management principles.
Proactive, customer-oriented mindset focused on driving solutions and results.
Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and build consensus across diverse teams.
Experience in change management, particularly implementing new systems or processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or 5+ years of equivalent IT/business experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in business analysis or business relationship management.
Demonstrated experience with business process analysis and improvement; familiarity with full-service law firm technologies is a plus.
Change management certification (ProSci CMP or similar) is a plus.
