Job Overview
Coordinates engineering and cross-functional teams and communicates with all organizational resources to plan and complete projects on time and within budget on new or existing products. Conducts research on current and emerging technologies relevant to electrical power connector design, development, and manufacturing. Provides specialized engineering expertise to support departmental knowledge.
A Day In The Life
Receives, reviews, and evaluates project requests; plans general activities for project completion.
Researches and interprets industry standards and technical information; applies knowledge to product design inputs and maintaining assigned product lines. Reviews new standards and recommends modifications.
Performs design or development work, conducts simulation tests and analyses, selects materials, and generates specifications to meet project goals.
Generates new product concepts and proposes ideas for project acceptance to create market opportunities based on application knowledge.
Analyzes laboratory test results, generates engineering comments for test reports, and ensures the technical accuracy of reports.
Conducts engineering investigations (e.g., product failures, customer complaints, deviations), summarizes findings, and recommends solutions. Addresses root causes of problems.
Initiates drawing orders, engineering changes, sample and prototype requests, purchase requests, and other documentation.
Attends trade shows, supplier visits, seminars, and conferences to support sales and project needs.
Researches current and new technologies for implementation in connector design and manufacturing.
Collaborates with domestic and international company and supplier networks.
What will help you thrive in this role?
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or materials engineering.
5+ years of experience in design, development, and testing of mechanical and electrical devices.
Effective project management skills with a successful track record.
Ability to collaborate effectively with various departments including supply chain, operations, manufacturing, sales, and marketing.
Experience with computer-aided design and product simulation.
