Purpose of Position/Summary The Metal Finishing Engineer is responsible for assuring metal finishing processes such as paint and plating meet all quality specifications. This position is responsible for ensuring that painting and plating processes are within the correct tolerances for chemistries. This position works with the Metal Finishing Supervisor to ensure all processes achieve company goals for quality at the most efficient cost.
Responsibilities
Maintain, troubleshoot and improve hard chrome plating and painting operations.
Oversee chemical inventories.
Plan production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products, utilizing knowledge of production processes and methods, machine and equipment capabilities and staffing requirements.
Ensure processes are operating at optimum and maintained to achieve production targets for QCD.
Supervise special projects as assigned to enhance associate productivity and functionality of equipment and processes.
Support Maintenance staff in equipment upgrades and repairs as needed.
Implement safety and good housekeeping standards.
Keep management informed of developments as they occur.
Maintain compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
Work various shifts including nights and weekends as needed.
Domestic and international travel on an as needed basis.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
4-6 years of related experience may substitute for a college diploma.
One year of experience in a Chemical Engineering role in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Experience in safety and environmental certification is strongly preferred.
ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and/or automotive-related internal auditing skills, as well as laboratory and wastewater treatment experience is a plus.
Ability to work in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment and manage multiple activities simultaneously.
Microsoft skillset is required.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, project management, organization, and problem solving skills are required.
Excellent communication, both written and verbal, skills required.
