Civil Project Engineer
in our
South Dakota
office . As a
Civil Project Engineer
you will be responsible for assisting Project Managers with detailed engineering analysis in the preparation of engineering reports, permit applications, and construction plans. You will also direct and train Civil Design Technicians and/or Civil Designers. Independently evaluates, plans, and conducts work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation/modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. May devise new alternatives/approaches to problems encountered, and perform difficult and technically challenging work with a specialty area. May exercise project leadership on certain projects or oversee portions of large projects. Some key duties and responsibilities include: Draft procedures and system requirements for clients; Use various design software; Coordinate municipal, transportation, traffic, and other disciplines; Complete permit applications for various municipalities; Design flexible and rigid pavements; Design geometric pavements and site circulation; Prepare specifications & cost estimates; Assess traffic warrants and guardrail warrants; Regularly have work checked by peers or supervisors; Direct and train Civil Designers to assist in reports, exhibits, plans, specifications, and permit applications as required by projects; Perform additional functions as listed in Civil Designers' responsibilities. Key skills and abilities needed for the position are: Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in producing technical plans and drawings; Understanding of materials, methods, and construction tools; Skill in using Microsoft Office and AutoCAD Civil 3D; Ability to communicate clearly in both oral and written forms; Understanding of materials and methods; Ability to interpret and apply state and local design criteria; Consistently produce high-quality construction documents. Education and experience requirements are: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering; Professional Engineer license; Minimum of 4 years of qualifying experience.
