The technical source of information for the project with thorough knowledge of construction documents, subcontracts, and purchase orders. Responds to questions about drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and change orders. Maintains professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers. May assist with supervision and/or training of Field Engineers. The position includes three progression steps (I, II, Senior) based on experience. Key Responsibilities
Demonstrates understanding of the project management plan components (PMP) including scope management, procurement, environmental, time, financial, quality, safety, and risk management plans; understands the change management process. Develops a procurement schedule integrated with the project CPM schedule. Procures material and equipment. Coordinates submittals with other trades and reviews submittals for contract compliance. Understands prime contract, subcontracts, purchase orders, and allowances; administers budgeting and cost control to complete the project within the approved budget; demonstrates business acumen in the area of responsibility. Maintains "As-built" contract documents. Compiles close-out requirements including O&M manuals and warranties as required. Participates in concrete form design, equipment selection, and takeoffs for concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and utilities as required. Plans, develops, and supervises project team members to ensure relentless execution; prepares and maintains quantity reporting mechanisms and meeting minutes; maintains project logs. Prepares and reviews change orders (including time extensions) with appropriate personnel before submittal to the owner; maintains change order log and distributes documents; prepares cost control budget adjustments and executes them timely. Prevents and identifies potential claims, quantifies, mitigates, and resolves effects in a timely manner. Minimum Job Requirements
Advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, standards; understanding of interdependencies between functional units. Four-year construction-related degree or equivalent technical training and 3–4 years of similar construction engineering experience. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to manage a team of varied disciplines; ability to supervise/train Field Engineer positions if required. Physical and Safety Requirements
Ability to wear personal protective equipment (steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.). Physical ability to reach, stoop, kneel, bend, lift, push, or pull as required; may climb stairs or ladders; may work with computer/electronic devices as needed.
