Job summary and progression: The position is the technical source of information for the project, with thorough knowledge of construction documents, subcontracts, and purchase orders. Responds to questions about drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and change orders. Maintains professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers. May assist with supervision and/or training of Field Engineers. The role includes a three-step progression (I, II, Senior) based on experience and project size/complexity. Key Responsibilities
Demonstrate understanding of the project management plan (PMP) components, including scope, procurement, environmental, time, financial, quality, safety, and risk management plans; understand the change management process. Develop a procurement schedule integrated with the project CPM schedule; procure materials/equipment and coordinate submittals with other trades; review submittals for contract conformity. Understand the prime contract, subcontracts, purchase orders, allowances, contract drawings and specifications; administer budgeting and cost control; demonstrate business acumen within the area of responsibility. Maintain "As-built" contract documents; compile close-out requirements (operations/maintenance manuals, warranties, etc.). Participate in concrete form design and related equipment selection; participate in takeoffs for concrete, asphalt concrete, earthwork, and utilities as required. Plan, acquire, develop and supervise project team members to ensure relentless execution; prepare and maintain quantity reporting mechanisms and meeting minutes; maintain project logs. Prepare and review change orders, including time extensions; manage change order log and distribute documents; prepare cost control budget adjustments and execute timely. Prevent and identify potential claims; quantify and mitigate effects of claims as needed. Minimum Job Requirements
Advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, standards, and the interdependence of functional units. Four-year construction-related degree or equivalent technical training and related experience; minimum of three to four years of similar construction engineering experience. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to supervise/train Field Engineer positions; capable of managing a multi-discipline team. Ability to wear personal protective equipment (steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.). May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis; may stoop, kneel, or bend on an occasional basis. May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors. Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures; may climb stairs or ladders; may lift, push, or pull objects; will interact with people frequently; may sit, stand, or walk for long periods.
