The Opportunity In this role you will have the opportunity to:
Function as a technical Lead substation design engineer for FACTS projects involving distribution, sub transmission and transmission level voltage classes.
Utilize resources available for safety and regulatory standards to define project requirements and review deliverables.
Work on non-standard aspects of design and research required standards.
Convey technical information to the project team.
Lead internal discussions with owner engineering team.
Candidates must be located or willing to relocate to any Black & Veatch U.S. Regional Office.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and guide design knowledge, provide technical guidance.
Apply knowledge and ensure compliance with quality program.
Prepare engineering deliverables and manage budget, schedule.
Coordinate with internal/external team members on moderately complex projects.
Assist with client interests for high voltage substation projects.
Provide technical specialist consultation and mentoring.
Mentor lower level professionals and manage succession.
Support resource management strategy and administrative responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
High voltage substation design experience – Physical and/or Protection & Controls.
Project lead and technical specialist experience overseeing utility substation clients and projects.
QA/QC Reviews – Quality Assurance/Quality Checks.
Experience coordinating and communicating with Clients, Multidisciplinary Leads and Project Managers.
Professional Engineer (PE) License.
Proficient with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office Programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
Must complete pre-employment onboarding requirements.
Work Environment/Physical Demands Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion.
Salary Plan Engineering Grade 016.
