Electrical Project Engineer - Substation Design and Power Electronics (STATCOM/FACTS/HVDC)

Electrical Project Engineer - Substation Design and Power Electronics (STATCOM/FACTS/HVDC)
role at Black & Veatch Corporation. This position is full‑time, with relocation eligible, and is not a visa sponsorship.
Key Responsibilities
Function as a technical lead for FACTS projects across distribution, sub‑transmission, and transmission voltage classes.
Apply safety and regulatory standards (IEEE, IEC, NEC, NESC, NERC, ISO/RTO) to define project requirements and review deliverables.
Conduct research into white papers, brochures, and standards for non‑standard substation design tasks.
Communicate technical information to stakeholders with varying expertise.
Lead discussions with owner engineering teams to resolve technical or project management topics.
Prepare engineering deliverables, perform equipment selection research, manage budgets, schedules, and quality.
Coordinate with internal and external teams on moderately complex projects.
Preferred Qualifications
High‑voltage substation design experience (physical and/or protection & controls).
Project lead and technical specialist experience with utility substation clients.
QA/QC review experience.
Experience coordinating with clients, multidisciplinary leads, and project managers.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office Suite.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor‑vehicle records).

Salary and Benefits The annual compensation range for this position is $114,933.00 - $201,080.00. Benefits include health, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) match, paid vacation and holiday time, sick and dependent sick time, and a performance‑based bonus program.
