Responsibilities
GEA Systems North America, LLC seeks a Process Automation Engineer in Columbia, MD. Responsible for the design, development, manufacturing and installation of automated systems for North American Pharmaceutical markets, in alignment with the Core Technology Center (CTC) and within the Pharma NAM service organization. Serve as the technology liaison for international partners in Wommelgem, Belgium, including our software engineering group; support customer projects, technical and field service, and project activities for NAM Pharma customers. Develop and upgrade customer-specific software using standard engineered modules and design best practices for automated OSD forms, with primary focus on automated “Continuous Systems” and alignment with customer expectations and standards. Collaborate with CTCs and NAM partners to engage in system/software upgrades, retrofits and enhancements for customer systems and applications. Provide SME support for NAM OSD issues, troubleshoot remotely or onsite to identify root causes and resolutions. Participate in project team development, meetings, and regularly report status for software engineering development and manufacturing processes. Manage, estimate, and report times for projects for utilization, billing and costing; maintain continuous improvement mindset and discuss improvements with automation standardization leadership in NAM and CTC. Conduct review meetings with customers to explain software architecture, optimization, and available updates for their systems. Execute software developer activities for global customers on assigned projects. Participate in cross-department review meetings to standardize automation processes, development, and approach. Develop SOPs and work instructions with the CTCs for designated Field Service Activities where NAM lacks experience in high-level software design and development. Interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, System General Arrangements, and other technical drawings to extract information for troubleshooting, modifications, and enhancements. Process information from GEA CTCs into locally usable technical documents and work instructions for field service and customer support; investigate delivery problems and customer complaints. Produce reports and communications to resolve problems and support process improvement efforts. Support colleagues in the field by providing or arranging information, documents, parts, or other assistance; follow up with customers to clarify questions and obtain information not in house. Assist with creation and maintenance of NAM iBase records. Your Profile / Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field (foreign equivalent acceptable), plus 48 months experience in job offered or related software/controls engineering role in the process industry (food, pharma, chemical, waste treatment or related). Experience programming Siemens PLCs (S7-1500), TIA Portal, Siemens WinCC SCADA systems; scripting (VBS) or MS SQL Server; reading mechanical drawings. Experience with business software (MS Office, CRM, VISIO); understanding of parts and assemblies. Experience with Good Automation Manufacturing Practice (GAMP); experience with pharmaceutical processing equipment, FDA regulations and standards. Contact:
