Process Automation Engineer - Steel Manufacturing - Pueblo, CO
A well-established and growing steel manufacturer in Pueblo, Colorado is seeking a Process Automation Engineer to join their team. This facility has recently completed a major capital investment in a new rail mill , incorporating advanced automation and modern control systems-making it one of the most exciting engineering environments in the industry.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support for production and maintenance in a modern steelmaking and rolling mill environment
- Design, develop, and implement control systems (hardware and software) to improve: Equipment performance, Product quality, Energy efficiency, Uptime and automation
- Modify and improve PLC and HMI systems (Allen-Bradley preferred)
- Troubleshoot and resolve process control system issues with ownership from start to finish
- Design KPIs and build bridges between automation systems and enterprise data tools
- Write functional specs and contribute to high-level control architecture
- Lead or support cross-functional project initiatives
What They're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Automated Manufacturing Engineering
- At least 3-4 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Strong knowledge of PLC/HMI platforms (especially Allen-Bradley -must have) and industrial controls
- Comfortable reading technical schematics (hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical)
- Problem-solving mindset with strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to take on-call support when needed for critical systems
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $115,000 - $125,000
