This role is for a Manufacturing Integration Engineer in the Precommissioning, Install, Test, and Assembly (PITA) group, focused on coordinating modular skid fabrication and integration for complex manufacturing projects. The initial on-site work location is Albuquerque, NM, with subsequent on-site support at our Oak Ridge, TN facility. The role serves as a key liaison between engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and operations to drive timely delivery and integration of technical systems while emphasizing continuous improvement and compliance.
Responsibilities
Focus on modular skid fabrication and assembly for the Hermes 1 project in TN. Troubleshoot and resolve complex assembly problems arising during fabrication and assembly of modular skids. Develop and maintain high-level production schedules based on project milestones in collaboration with manufacturing planners, supervisors, and engineering. Coordinate resources and resolve roadblocks by collaborating across engineering, design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure timely availability of materials, labor, and equipment. Support project reviews, ensuring manufacturing requirements and design decisions are clearly communicated, documented, and aligned with production goals. Proactively identify bottlenecks and implement practical, technically sound solutions in fast-paced, evolving environments. Communicate production status and risks to stakeholders, including project leads, engineering, operations, and quality teams, ensuring alignment and transparency. Drive continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies, implementing process enhancements, and supporting training on planning tools and methodologies. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards throughout the production lifecycle. Support change management by evaluating engineering changes and assessing their impact on production timelines and resources. Develop and maintain KPIs to monitor manufacturing integration effectiveness and support data-driven decision-making. Contribute to risk assessments and mitigation planning for manufacturing integration activities, especially during new process introductions. Document and standardize integration workflows to promote consistency, scalability, and knowledge transfer across teams. Collaborate on new design/project efforts, ensuring manufacturability and integration readiness from prototype to full-scale production. Order parts and components through the procurement team. Work at KP-SW fabrication facilities to assemble components and build new skids, coordinating with PITA for technologist support, with a plan to move to KP-TN for full-time support. Perform additional duties as assigned to support PITA operations and company objectives. Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical discipline. 5+ years of experience in production planning, manufacturing operations, or process engineering, with a strong track record in schedule development, resource coordination, and cross-functional collaboration. Demonstrated commitment to safety and a safe work environment for all team members. Experience in transitioning designs from prototype to production is desirable. Experience in highly regulated or safety-critical environments (e.g., nuclear, aerospace, automotive, medical devices) is desirable. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Deep understanding of manufacturing workflows, supply chain logistics, and inventory control, with experience supporting design, procurement, and assembly of complex technical systems. Familiar with process documentation (PFDs, P&IDs) and how they inform industrial system operations and integration. Strong problem-solving and organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities in dynamic environments with attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to document plans and convey information across engineering, operations, and leadership teams. Proactive, adaptable, and collaborative; able to lead cross-functional efforts and drive results.
