How You’ll Contribute
Provide direct technical support for the maintenance, operation, repair, and modernization of broadcast and audiovisual (AV) systems within a secure, multi‑facility federal environment. Ensure the readiness and reliability of all broadcast and AV systems, supporting daily operations for mission‑critical live and recorded federal events. Responsibilities range from intermediate to senior, including mentoring junior staff, leading technical projects, and ensuring compliance with federal standards. What You’ll Do
Broadcast & AV system maintenance and repair (baseband and IP audio/video routers, switchers, signal processors, cable head‑end, satellite downlink, RF/IP components). Diagnose and resolve signal flow issues quickly, escalating complex issues, and preparing and submitting reports as required and requested. Execute preventative maintenance plans and emergency response procedures and perform firmware/hardware upgrades and preventative maintenance. Install, terminate, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables; maintain fiber infrastructure and support expansion projects. Configure, operate, and troubleshoot AV control systems (AMX, Crestron); integrate DSPs, displays, microphones, KVM/IP routers. Operate and maintain portable AV/broadcast systems for events; lead technical support during high‑profile events. Assist with system upgrades, migrations, run‑sheets, drawings, and documentation; ensure compliance with technical/security standards. Mentor junior technicians; supervise activities and deliver outstanding customer service to all internal and external clients. What You’ll Bring
Required Skills/Qualifications: Must have a minimum of active interim security clearance and ability to obtain/maintain active TS/SCI clearance. 3–7 years’ experience in broadcast system maintenance/repair and AV technical operations. Strong knowledge of AV signal flow, routing, transmission, broadcast IT/Digital, baseband & IP routing, and current applicable broadcast & IP standards. Hands‑on experience with broadcast/AV equipment, monitoring tools, and automation control systems (AMX/Crestron). Ability to create and interpret technical drawings, rack elevations, and schematics. Excellent troubleshooting, customer service, and project management skills. Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as required by event schedules. Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Experience in secure federal, military, or major network broadcast facilities. Industry certifications applicable to Broadcast IT/Engineering and AV Systems. Familiarity with advanced protocols (SMPTE ST 2110, KVM/IP, NDI, Dante, AES67) and compression and streaming standards (AVC, HEVC, MPEG, RTMP, SRT, HLS). Experience mentoring junior staff and contributing to program improvement initiatives. Work Schedule & Requirements
Monday–Friday, flexible shifts (7:00 AM–5:00 PM) On‑call coverage for evenings, weekends, holidays. Fully on‑site at a secure federal facility in the Washington D.C. area. What We Offer
