Overview
We are seeking a Staff Product Owner (SPO) within the automation portfolio. The SPO will drive the successful delivery of new and sustaining on-market products, oversee value delivery within the cross-functional team, and serve as a subject matter expert. The role requires managing and prioritizing the product backlog, translating product marketing strategies into software requirements, stories, tasks, and ensuring alignment with portfolio goals. The position emphasizes collaboration with stakeholders, developers, and cross-functional teams in an Agile environment. Key Responsibilities
Create, order, and manage the backlog of software features, user stories, and defects to ensure work is meaningful to the customer and realistic for the development teams; balance features across innovation, new product development, and sustaining activity in collaboration with the cross-functional team. Champion product quality through continuous collaboration with engineering and QA to ensure timely, high-quality product increments. Manage software requirements engineering with Systems Engineering throughout the lifecycle, eliciting, documenting, analyzing, and harmonizing functional and non-functional requirements. Support sprint planning, reviews, estimation, and incremental delivery in collaboration with Customers, Product Managers, Engineering, and Quality. Mitigate impediments impacting release and sprint goals; provide governance for change management and adjust plans as needed. Facilitate scoping of software requirements to align product roadmaps and deliverables. Support software quality in test planning by ensuring testability of requirements and reviewing test cases and defects as needed. Lead verification and validation with user acceptance, including protocol writing, execution, and reporting; support beta launch activities (site selection, defining success, documenting outcomes). Assist hand-over of design to manufacturing and service; possible third-line support to diagnose and resolve production issues and remove obstacles. Execute work within engineering tools, Design Controls, Product Lifecycle Management, Configuration Management, and Phase Reviews; act as a key contributor in a complex environment with minimal guidance. Contribute to Intellectual Property generation and share expertise with others. Keep abreast of Agile/Scrum practices and industry trends; represent the function in cross-functional teams to define program resources and project plans; contribute to an integrated R&D product development plan. Lead system design reviews for the portfolio and gather inputs from other functions. Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees/descriptions (BS/MS/PhD) indicating experience levels are noted as: MS 4+ years, PhD 2+ years, etc. In-depth knowledge of Agile processes and Lean/Agile software development; experience with design controls. Experience with product management and development tools (e.g., AzureDevOps, Aha!, Jira or equivalent). Outstanding communication, presentation, and leadership skills; strong organizational and time management abilities; analytical and problem-solving skills; creative thinking with vision. Domain experience in Pharmacy or Healthcare is a plus; travel up to 20% may be required. Why Join Us?
