Prepares and calibrates the MRI unit for daily operation. Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis. Screens all patients and visitors, prior to entry into the magnetic imaging area. Appraises physical condition of all patients to determine durability to withstand the procedure. Communicates to the patient the nature and type of examination to be performed. Verifies and/or obtains informed consent for examinations requiring consent. Operates and navigates pertinent IS software related to job functions (e.g., MAK, Syngo, PACS, Lifelinks). Records and maintains patient history from the patient’s chart or by interviewing the patient. Positions patients for imaging to obtain satisfactory examinations and perform requested procedures. Protects and immobilizes patient in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Utilizes a wide variety of technical equipment to produce MRI images. Performs complex imaging of cross-sectional, sagittal, coronal, and obliquely generated MRI images. Prepares and QA’s images to be interpreted by the radiologist. Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems. Assists the radiologist in developing new procedures and protocols and in the development of technical factors. Participates in in-service educational programs and clinical instruction of MRI students. Maintains knowledge of the latest developments in the MRI field and relevant nursing procedures, sterile techniques, and infection control. Observes established policies and regulations; maintains ethical conduct with all personnel. Maintains a clean and orderly working area and practices safety around strong magnetic fields. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with MRI certification. Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, advanced MRI applications and computer operations; basic understanding of computer consoles. Experience with MRI; new grads may obtain certification within 90 days of hire. Interpersonal skills to interface effectively with patients, families, staff, and physicians. Ability to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes and cultural patterns. Preferred: prior experience in Ultrasound, CT, Nuclear Medicine, DSA, cross-sectional anatomy and computer operations; MRI experience. Works in a healthcare environment with direct patient contact; adheres to safety procedures to minimize hazards and exposure to high magnetic fields. Ability to lift and position patients and supplies up to 50 pounds. Pay Range
