Essential Job Functions
Provide excellent patient care by performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating diseases, and providing preventive care.
Utilize a problem‑based approach to develop complete problem lists, differential diagnoses, diagnostic plans, and treatments.
Document all patient observations, treatments, and client interactions in the medical record concisely.
Perform routine and complex surgical procedures including spays/neuters, abdominal exploratory, and mass removals.
Perform routine and complex dental procedures including full dental examination and extractions.
Develop treatment plans for day hospitalization cases and coordinate care with referral hospitals.
Other Duties
Participate in rounds at the beginning and end of shifts.
Disseminate knowledge throughout staff to improve care communication.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from an AVMA‑accredited school.
Active licensure as a veterinarian in the state or ability to obtain by start date.
Current DEA license and controlled substance license as required.
USDA Category I (minimum) accreditation or completion within two months of hire date.
Comfortable performing anesthesia and routine surgeries such as spays/neuters, mass removals, and dentals.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Compassionate, professional demeanor during stressful situations.
Team player willing to learn new techniques and accept change.
Work Environment Positions are performed at a Vetco Total Care full‑service hospital. Duties require bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 pounds, and standing for long periods. Direct contact with clients and pets is a major component.
