UMMS is a physician-led, internationally recognized healthcare system providing rewarding careers across Maryland. The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC), a world-renowned tertiary and quaternary Advanced Heart Failure Center, seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (Day/Night Rotator) to join its multidisciplinary team. The role involves supporting patients with advanced cardiac conditions, including post-transplant, ventricular assist device, pulmonary hypertension, cardiogenic shock, or decompensated heart failure, with responsibilities including invasive cardiac monitoring, arrhythmia management, and overnight acute issue management. Responsibilities
Manage complex cardiac patients, including post-transplant and ventricular assist device cases. Perform invasive cardiac monitoring and manage arrhythmias. Provide overnight care, including night-time rounding and communication with families and team members. Collaborate with cardiac fellows and other specialists for patient care. Document all patient interactions accurately in EPIC. Participate in research and quality improvement initiatives. Qualifications
Master’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant program; current Maryland licensure and certification as Nurse Practitioner or PA; DEA and CDS eligibility. CPR, ACLS/BCLS certifications. Minimum one year of RN experience. Effective communication, professionalism, and interpersonal skills. Ability to assess patient needs across the lifespan and provide age-appropriate care. Working Conditions
Shift work including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime may be required. Potential exposure to infectious diseases; adherence to universal precautions necessary. Patient Safety
Ensure safety through participation in safety initiatives, risk identification, and effective communication with team members. Additional Information
