Responsibilities
Provide excellent patient care by performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating diseases, and delivering preventive care based on patient signalment, lifestyle, and environment. Utilize a problem‑based approach that includes developing a complete problem list, differential diagnoses, diagnostic plan, and appropriate treatments based on diagnostic test results. Document patient observations, exam findings, diagnostics, treatments, medications, client communications, and diagnoses in the medical record in a clear and concise manner. Perform routine and complex surgical procedures including spays/neuters, abdominal exploratories, and mass removals. Perform routine and complex dental procedures including full dental examinations, evaluation of dental radiographs, and extractions or oral surgical procedures. Develop treatment plans for patients undergoing day hospitalization, transition patients to overnight care as needed, and communicate with referral hospitals to ensure continuity of care. Other Duties
Participate in rounds as incoming or exiting doctor at the start and end of shifts. Disseminate knowledge to improve the level of care and communication provided to clients and patients. Perform additional duties as assigned. Nature of Supervision
Veterinarians operate with guidance from the Hospital Medical Leader or Area Medical Director, uphold Petco Veterinary SOPs, and accept feedback to elevate patient care. Collaboration and professional conduct are expected across the team. Planning and Problem Solving
Strong problem‑solving skills are essential for expeditious diagnosis and high‑quality patient care. Impact

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent from an AVMA‑accredited veterinary school. Active veterinary license in the state of employment without contingencies or ability to obtain by start date. Current DEA license and, if applicable, Current Controlled Substance License in the state of the hospital or the ability to obtain by start date. USDA Category I Accreditation or completion within two months of hire date. Comfort with anesthesia and routine surgeries including canine and feline spays/neuters, mass removals, and dentals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; compassionate and professional demeanor under pressure. Strong telephone and computer skills; a collaborative team player willing to learn and adapt. Work Environment
The majority of duties occur in a Vetco Total Care veterinary full‑service hospital. Physical demands include bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 pounds, and standing for long periods. A significant portion of time is spent in direct client and patient contact. Equal Opportunity
