Position: Part-time Physician Assistant – Bellevue – Emergency Department. The successful candidate is responsible for provision, coordination, and assurance of comprehensive medical care using sound medical knowledge and applicable standards of care, performing therapeutic, corrective, and prescriptive measures for the designated inpatient or outpatient population, and assuming delegatory responsibilities assigned by supervising physician privileged as Medical Staff of NYU Langone Health. Job Responsibilities

Supports the mission, philosophy, standards, goals and objectives of the institution, department and clinical service. Educates patients and families to facilitate healthy adjustment to new or changed health patterns. Evaluates treatment and health care plans for effectiveness and modifies per clinical standards and practice protocols. Performs delegated clinical duties effectively and efficiently. Practices as a member of the allied health staff according to the Medical Staff rules, regulations, and bylaws as outlined in the delineation of privileges. Prescribes medical equipment, devices, physical and occupational therapy, and home health services per practice protocol. Prescribes in-patient and discharge medications according to New York State law, including controlled substances with DEA authorization. Maintains physical stamina and clinical competencies; membership in professional specialty organizations desirable. Collaborates as a member of the interdisciplinary team with effective communication and problem-solving. Maintains excellent interpersonal and communication skills and critical thinking abilities. Prior PA experience or PA fellowship is preferred; at least 2 years of clinical rotation in medical, surgical and other areas. Coordinates implementation of clinical research studies or clinical trials, including patient screening, enrollment and data collection. Monitors cost effectiveness and performance indicators for the service; assists in research protocol development and evaluation when applicable. Works with nursing and other disciplines on clinical studies within area of expertise and uses evidence-based literature to support practice changes. Participates in patient outcomes monitoring for quality and performance improvement and serves as a clinical resource for education of peers and health professionals. Maintains PA board certification and annual CME requirements for re-appointment and privileging; maintains current expertise in area of practice. Promotes professional growth and development; functions as a respectful team member; participates in activities related to professional practice standards. Demonstrates knowledge of the organization\u2019s core values and incorporates them into responsibilities. Facilitates patient throughput and continuity of care across the continuum, including home care and follow-up with MDs; provides consultation to nursing staff and maintains timely communication with families and other services. Assists in development and revision of interdisciplinary and hospital standards, patient and family education materials as relevant to area of practice. Plans and organizes care to meet individual patient needs and ensures appropriate clinical resource utilization per protocols and pathways. Additional Position Specific Responsibilities: Physicians Assistants at the Hyperbaric and Advanced Wound Healing Center may have additional duties as outlined in the designated policy. Minimum Qualifications

Physician Assistant Bachelor\u2019s Degree (BA-PA) Current New York State Physician Assistant License NCCPA Board Certification Basic Life Support Certification (American Heart Association) Required Licenses

Physician Assistant Lic-NYS National Certification as Physician Assistant Basic Life Support Certification Preferred Qualifications

Advanced Life Support certifications (ACLS, PALS) or Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (NRP) may be required based on privileges. Membership in pertinent professional organizations preferred. The salary range for this role is $50.04 - $67.95 hourly, depending on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. This range is intended to comply with New York state salary transparency laws and does not include bonuses, differential pay, or other compensation or benefits.
