Pharmacy Operations Manager

The position involves supervising pharmacy technicians and cashiers under the guidance of a pharmacist, in accordance with company policies, laws, regulations, and business ethics. Responsibilities
Accountable for performing day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities where allowed by state and federal laws/regulations; ensure efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience; serve as a full-time certified pharmacy technician. Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions; supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers under pharmacist supervision in line with authorized company policies and applicable laws and ethics. Lead the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel; train, coach, and manage performance; make decisions regarding performance management including discipline and termination. Assist pharmacist in patient care delivery including patient registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, counting, and verification where allowed; complete patient and physician calls under pharmacist supervision; assist with healthcare service offerings including vaccines and health screenings where permitted by law. Delegate, direct, and assign non-clinical work in the pharmacy, ensure on-time task completion, and hold others accountable for efficient workflow; prepare and file reports and records required by the company and government agencies as directed. Drive core pharmacy workflow, coordinate daily activities, recommend allocation of hours, and ensure the pharmacy is clean, neat, and stocked with supplies. Manage inventory and non-clinical administrative activities; ensure compliance with policies and maintain security safeguards; adhere to Good Faith Dispensing requirements where applicable. Communicate prescription errors to the accountable pharmacist and follow company policies related to pharmacy errors and the Continuous Quality Improvement Program. Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims, resolve customer issues, and follow up with insurance companies and providers; participate in third-party audits as needed. Support store and pharmacy managers in analyzing and improving pharmacy financials, operational quality, and customer service; manage community outreach and coordinate immunization clinics and community events as directed. Lead performance management of technicians, including decisions on discipline and termination; follow constructive discipline policies and ensure compliance with state and federal laws; maintain attendance and timeliness; engage the team to improve performance. Oversee technician hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling; monitor completion of training; follow company policies for scheduling and training. Identify gaps in operational knowledge, support team members with training or learning modules, and ensure licensures, registrations, and certifications are active and compliant. Ensure proper procedures for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training as required by company policy and law. Training & Personal Development
Maintain PTCB certification or equivalent state certification/registration; pursue ongoing professional development and adhere to company training requirements. Seek professional development, solicit feedback, and utilize available mentors and coaching resources. Communication
Communicate with the pharmacy team and relay messages from support centers or key emails; participate in store/pharmacy meetings and regular check-ins with the Store Manager. Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico). One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting. Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations). Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management/leadership experience. Previous work experience with Walgreens with an Exceeding Expectation on last performance evaluation.
