Accountable for performing day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations, administrative activities; ensures efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. Serves as a full-time certified pharmacy technician where allowed by state and federal laws/regulations. Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers within company policies, laws, regulations and business ethics. Lead the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel. Lead training, coaching, and performance management of technicians. Make decisions regarding performance management including discipline and termination. Customer Experience
Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer complaints and respond to requests to ensure a positive customer experience. Model and share customer service best practices. Develop strong relationships with customers by anticipating needs and proactively offering services to enhance the experience and focus on healthcare services. Operations
Assist pharmacist in patient care delivery including patient registration, prescription data entry, preparation of medications, counting, and verification where allowed by law. Complete patient and physician calls under supervision of a pharmacist. Assist with healthcare service offerings including administering vaccines and health screenings where allowed by law. Delegate, direct, and assign non-clinical work in the pharmacy within company policies and laws to ensure on-time task completion and workflow efficiency. Prepare and file reports and records as directed by the Pharmacy Manager or pharmacist. Manage core pharmacy workflow and daily schedule of activities; allocate hours and ensure the pharmacy is clean, neat, and stocked with supplies. Ensure compliance and execution of business and inventory management tasks that do not require pharmacist licensure; manage annual inventory preparation. Complete non-clinical patient calls and support recordkeeping and security safeguards in collaboration with the Pharmacy Manager. Support the rollout of new technology/processes and engage the team in action planning. Maintain equipment operation and maintenance; assist with recordkeeping and security as directed. Adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policies during applicable prescription-dispensing activities. Support asset protection efforts, monitor for diversion, and report concerns to the Pharmacy Manager. Communicate prescription errors to the pharmacist and follow company policies and Continuous Quality Improvement. Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims, follow up with insurers/providers, and participate in third-party audits. Assist Store Manager and Pharmacy Manager in analyzing and improving pharmacy financials, operational quality, and customer service. Manage Community Outreach Portal and coordinate pharmacist assignment to off-site immunization clinics and events; build relationships with retail partners. People & Performance Management
Lead performance management of technicians, including decisions on discipline and termination; follow constructive discipline policy. Hold technicians accountable for attendance and timeliness; drive engagement and action planning to improve performance. Oversee technician hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling; ensure timely completion of training. Identify knowledge gaps and support team members through training or learning modules. Monitor licensures, registrations, and certifications for pharmacy staff; verify active status using Walgreens resources. Ensure compliance with policies and legal requirements. Maintain PTCB certification and other required certifications; pursue ongoing knowledge and skills development. Obtain required certifications and training as directed by the company; participate in performance improvement plans. Seek professional development and leverage mentorship from supervisors. Communication
Communicate with the pharmacy team and relay messages from support centers or key emails. Participate in store/pharmacy meetings and weekly check-ins with the Store Manager. Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico). One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting. Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations). Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management/leadership experience. Previous Walgreens experience with an Exceeding Expectation on last performance evaluation.
