Job Summary Reports to the Healthcare Delivery (HCD) Administrator. Ensures and is responsible for carrying out medical care programs for children from birth through adolescence to aid in mental and physical growth and development. Examines patients to determine the presence of disease and establishes preventive health practices. Determines the nature and extent of disease or injury, prescribes and administers medications and immunizations, and performs various medical duties.
Provides and executes medical care programs concerning the health of infants, children, and teenagers from birth to early adulthood.
Specializes in diagnosing and treating ailments specific to young people and monitors their growth into adulthood.
Collaborates with nurses, specialists, and allied health professionals for coordinated and comprehensive care.
Treats common childhood illnesses—minor injuries, infectious diseases, and immunizations.
Focuses on serious medical conditions and pediatric surgery, including autoimmune disorders and chronic ailments.
Incorporates clinical research findings into the development and implementation of care standards.
Education and Experience
Doctor of Medicine with specialization in pediatrics; Guam license required.
At least 3 years of experience in planning and implementing medical care programs for children.
Current PALS, BLS, and CPR certifications.
Experience with multinational, multiracial populations.
Experience in supervisory and leadership roles.
Experience with developmental delay disorders such as autism and Down syndrome.
Behavioral maturity and patience in handling patients.
Diplomacy and tact in managing difficult or irate patients.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with colleagues, patients, and families.
Outstanding communication skills, especially in instructing and reassuring patients.
Sensitivity to patient needs and anxieties, motivating patients for treatments.
High personal and professional integrity.
Knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations at all levels.
