THE POSITION IN A NUTSHELL
SciensBuilding Solutions is seeking a Fire Alarm System Designer responsible for the design and engineering of fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA codes and project specifications. This role involves designing systems as represented by Sciens, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of project deliverables. Ideal candidates will have manufacturing training, in-house training, and relevant on-the-job experience related to design. The Fire Alarm System Designer applies engineering principles to meet code and customer requirements; reviews product specifications; interfaces with AutoCAD drafters, project managers, and sales teams; and supports their needs. The person in this role follows all quality procedures related to design, engineering, and drafting.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (and doing well!)
Design systems in accordance with NFPA and project specifications.
Participate in review processes with other design team members and drafters, as requested by management.
Develop floor plans, riser diagrams, schematics, system power calculations, and control panel layouts using software such as AutoCAD.
Review all designs before submission to ensure they meet Sciens' quality standards and code requirements.
Follow all Sciens policies and procedures during daily activities.
Work independently or as part of a team to complete design tasks, collaborating with sales and project managers to ensure efficient and high-quality designs.
Assist and provide feedback to sales and project managers for organizing, planning, and prioritizing work.
Support management in developing and implementing quality service programs to enhance departmental efficiency and proficiency.
Advise drafters to ensure their goals and objectives are met.
Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements.
WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT YOU
Two to five years of experience designing commercial fire detection systems.
Minimum NICET Level II certification in Fire Alarm and/or Special Hazards.
Strong knowledge of fire alarm codes and operations.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and other relevant software.
Understanding of current NFPA 72 design standards.
Ability to interpret fire alarm project drawings and specifications.
Strong leadership, organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
Ability to work under tight deadlines with a sense of urgency.

Pay Range: $21.63 - $31.25, depending upon experience.
