Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a senior-level engineer to support acoustics and electromechanical systems within the E46 department. The selected candidate will lead and mentor others, engage with Navy customers and partners, and contribute to modeling, testing, analysis, and documentation of acoustic and electromechanical programs. Responsibilities

Apply electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; participate in the construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and perform quality testing. Support and participate in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems. Provide leadership within the Newport News Shipbuilding Acoustics group; mentor and teach acoustic methods, advanced analysis, and testing principals for Navy programs. Engage with Navy customers and partners (e.g., Naval Reactors, NNL, NAVSEA 05, Electric Boat) and develop ongoing relationships. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET level clearance. Qualifications

Must Have: Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience; or Master’s Degree with 7 years; or Ph.D. with 4 years. ABET-accredited engineering degree required. Nice to Have: Experience in acoustics or vibrations; knowledge of US Navy mechanical ship systems; MATLAB experience; leadership capability; and ability to perform acoustic analyses across frequency bands.
