Critical Care Resuscitation Unit (CCRU): Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
Position: Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the Critical Care Resuscitation Unit (CCRU) at University of Maryland Medical Center.
Job Description Work as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the CCRU, a novel resuscitation unit for critically ill non‑trauma adult patients transferred from outside hospitals. The CCRU is staffed 24/7 with critical care physicians, advanced practice providers, critical care RNs, respiratory therapists, and EMT‑B technicians.
Qualifications
Master of Science degree from an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
Registered and currently recorded with the Maryland Board of Examiners of Nurses and certified as a Nurse Practitioner; or Certified Physician Assistant in the State of Maryland. DEA and CDS eligible.
CPR, ACLS/BCLS as required for inpatient work.
Minimum of one (1) year experience as a registered nurse.
Demonstrated involvement in professional organizations, teaching, research, publishing, or certification in area of specialty.
Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population served; assessment of data reflective of patient requirements.
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal skills for interacting with families, staff, and units.
Maintains updated hospital safety and other mandatory training; updated immunizations as recommended.
Working Conditions
Weekend, shift work, holiday, on‑call and overtime may be required.
Potential exposure to patients with infectious diseases; universal precautions required.
Patient Safety
Takes action to correct observed risks to patient safety.
Reports adverse events and near misses to appropriate management authority.
Implements policies, procedures, and standards consistently in the performance of assigned duties.
Develops effective working relationships and maintains good communication with other team members.
Identifies possible risks in processes, procedures, and devices and communicates to those in charge.
Additional Information
Pay Range: $54.34–$77.08 per hour.
