The Outdoor Experience Director leads the design, coordination, marketing, and delivery of year-round outdoor programs on all council properties and oversees the summer sleepaway camp. Working as part of the council-wide program team, this role develops and implements the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) through camping, high adventure, aquatics, paddle sports, archery, first aid/CPR training, and environmental education. The Director supports volunteers and girls in troop camping and day-camp opportunities, proactively advancing council goals to expand girl participation in outdoor experiences. Responsibilities include program budgeting, promotion, quality assurance, staff and volunteer training, and risk management. The Director directly supervises the seasonal Camp Director, camp staff, and contracted facilitators. This is a full-time role with approximately 55% fieldwork (council camps and community sites) and 45% office-based duties, requiring frequent travel, evenings, and weekends. Girl Scouts of Central Maryland extends through Baltimore, Howard, Carroll, Harford, and Anne Arundel Counties including Baltimore City. Requirements What You'll Do Lead unforgettable experiences

– Plan, market, and oversee safe, high-quality outdoor programs and sleepaway camp that reflect the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Build strong teams

– Hire and manage seasonal camp staff, support volunteers, and provide training that empowers others to deliver outdoor programs. Protect and steward resources

– Manage budgets, equipment, risk management, and regulatory compliance (ACA, GSUSA, state/local). Expand access

– Partner with community organizations to broaden outdoor opportunities, promote diversity and inclusion, and remove barriers such as transportation or cost. Promote camp magic

– Share the story of our council camps through outreach, community engagement, and innovative marketing. Foster belonging

– Create environments where girls, volunteers, and staff feel safe, welcomed, and supported to thrive outdoors. What You'll Bring Degree or equivalent experience in outdoor education, youth development, or related field. 3+ years managing outdoor programs or camps; supervisory experience required. Current or ability to obtain certifications (e.g., Lifeguard, First Aid/CPR, Ropes, Archery). Proficient with Microsoft Office; CRM experience (e.g., Salesforce) preferred; quick to learn new systems. Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness of Central Maryland communities. Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance. Moderate lifting my be required; accommodations may be considered. This position will stand and sit for extended periods, and work outdoors in all conditions. Ability to meet council membership requirements (for insurance and program purposes) upon hire. Membership is an employment-related registration and does not require previous Girl Scout experience or personal affiliation. Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and overnight stays during camp season.
