Overview
Simulation Laboratory Manager at Northern Arizona University. This is an in-person, full-time position located at the Flagstaff Mountain Campus in the College of Nursing. Regular statewide travel is a required aspect of the position, and travel to and from College of Nursing locations is essential. Occasional nontraditional work hours may be required to accommodate the needs of the Simulation Center and College of Nursing students.
Responsibilities
Develop simulation curricula to support program and course outcomes.
Conduct debriefing within the scope of knowledge or assist content expert with debriefing.
Incorporate best practices and evidence-based research in program development with a focus on standardization and efficiencies across the healthcare continuum.
Coordinate the setup and maintenance of computer-based training programs for simulation.
Coordinate and supervise the general operation of the simulation laboratory to provide a wide variety of patient simulation experiences.
Provide recommendations for equipment and supply purchases anticipating future changes in technology.
Participate in program and curriculum review; offer suggestions concerning the improvement of curriculum in keeping with the mission and vision of the College.
Direct Lab Support and Maintenance – 25%
Oversee the setup and takedown of simulation laboratory equipment to accommodate multiple groups.
Oversee regular maintenance and repair of all simulation equipment, including human patient simulators (HPS), computers, monitors, audiovisual and debriefing systems.
Communicate effectively with manufacturers regarding warranty, maintenance, repair, update, and technology changes.
Coordinate upgrades to software and equipment as needed.
Provide technical support for task trainers (skills lab) and multimedia peripherals including beds/examination tables, headwalls, patient monitors, and other healthcare equipment.
Organize and restock simulation laboratory supplies.
Divisional Administrative Expectations – 10%
Facilitate tours of the simulation lab when needed.
Prepare and submit instructional records, reports, grades, and all other required paperwork in a timely, efficient manner meeting deadlines, checking for accuracy and completeness of data.
Remain current in the discipline through professional development activities offered by the College and other opportunities, including attendance at webinars and off-campus activities where feasible.
Serve on the SoN Simulation Committee.
Participate in discipline, departmental, divisional, and institutional meetings and other announced co-curricular activities of the College.
Other – 5%
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Nursing or a healthcare-related field from an accredited institution.
Two years of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse, or the equivalent.
A combination of related education, experience and training may be used as an equivalent to the above educational minimum requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution with specialization in Nurse Education.
