— Location: Nursing | Regular/Temporary: Regular | Job ID: 608381 | Full/Part Time: Full-Time This is an in-person position at the Flagstaff Mountain Campus, sometimes requiring a nontraditional work schedule to accommodate the needs of the Simulation Center and College of Nursing students. The Simulationist acts as both

simulation educator

and

facilitator . They facilitate the operation of the nursing simulation lab, oversee the preparation, maintenance, inventory, and operation of nursing simulation equipment/supplies and collaborates with faculty including course development, outcomes design, plan, implement and schedule simulation activities. The Simulationist ensures adherence to program

policies , course objectives, program outcomes and current simulation best practice and

safety

measures. This position is a 12-month, full-time placement. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required. This position will report to the Flagstaff Director and supervise the Flagstaff Instructional Lab Coordinator. Simulation Lab Educator – 60%: Develop simulation curricula to support program and course outcomes. Conduct debriefing within scope of knowledge or assist content expert with debriefing. Incorporate best practice and evidence-based research in program development with a focus on standardization and efficiencies across the healthcare continuum. Coordinate the setup and maintenance of computer-based training programs for simulation. Coordinate and supervise the general operation of the simulation laboratory to provide a wide variety of patient simulation experiences. Provide recommendations for equipment and supply purchases anticipating future changes in technology. Participate in program and curriculum review; offer suggestions concerning the improvement of curriculum in keeping with the mission and vision of the College. Direct Lab Support and Maintenance – 25%: Oversee the setup and takedown of simulation laboratory equipment to accommodate multiple groups. Oversee regular maintenance and repair of all simulation equipment, including human patient simulators, computers, monitors and other clinical equipment; audiovisual and debriefing systems. Communicate effectively with manufacturers regarding warranty, maintenance, repair, update, and technology changes; coordinate upgrades to software and equipment as needed. Provide technical support for task trainers (skills lab) and multimedia peripherals including beds, headwalls, monitors, medication dispensing systems, and vital sign monitors. Organize and restock simulation laboratory supplies. Divisional Administrative Expectations – 10%: Facilitate tours of the simulation lab when needed. Prepare and submit instructional records, reports, grades, and other required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner. Engage in professional development opportunities to stay current in discipline and instructional methods. Serve on the SoN Simulation Committee and participate in relevant meetings and co-curricular activities. Other – 5%: Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

Master\'s degree in Nursing or a Healthcare-related field from an accredited institution. Two years full-time clinical experience or the equivalent as a registered nurse. A combination of related education, experience and training may be used as an equivalent to the above educational Minimum Requirements. Preferred Qualifications

Master\'s degree in Nursing with specialization in Nurse Education. 1-year experience in the operation of simulation equipment including simulators and standard audiovisual equipment. One year of previous teaching and clinical experience in critical care and/or medical-surgical nursing. One year of experience in healthcare simulation as an educator or simulation technician. Certification as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator. Current license to practice as a registered nurse in Arizona. Commitment to obtain certification as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator within 2 years of hire date. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge

Clinical knowledge and experience as a registered nurse. Understanding of simulation planning, preparation and implementation. Understanding of debriefing to support student achievements and course outcomes. Understanding of formative, summative and high-stakes simulation modalities. Knowledge of operation of standard audiovisual equipment. Skills

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with faculty, staff, students, and vendors. Ability to operate PC and Mac with MS Office and audiovisual/computer simulation software. Mechanical skills to maintain and use equipment in the simulation center. Organizational and time management skills to manage materials, projects, and deadlines. Abilities

Maintains confidentiality of information. Quickly learns new technology. Expresses technical information clearly to non-technical persons. Ensures safety for all users. Maintains laboratory to meet regulation and accreditation standards. Follows simulation protocols for each course. Background Information

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for a criminal background investigation, employment history verification, and degree verification where applicable. A fingerprint background check may be required. NAU participates in the federal E-Verify program. The university also provides access to the Annual Security Report and Fire Safety Report for the Flagstaff Mountain Campus. Salary range begins at $77,871. Annual salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. FLSA Status:

Exempt from overtime; no overtime or compensatory time earned. Benefits:
