SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Lead Cardiology Testing Nurse perform exercise and Holter monitor testing, thallium stress testing, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, and Holter monitor scanning; assists with the daily operation of the Stress and Holter Laboratories. All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age-specific needs of the patients. Performs and/or assists with diagnostic exercise stress tests, explains tests and prepares patients for treadmill; monitors tests and analyzes exercise test. Performs Holter monitor hook-ups, scanning, and preparation of preliminary reports. Performs hook-ups and organizes facilities for ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. Performs thallium stress tests, dipyridamole thallium, dobutamine thallium tests in Nuclear Cardiology as needed to provide cross-coverage. Organizes and maintains all reports files in Exercise/Holter Laboratory. Arranges for repair and maintenance of all equipment of all equipment. Maintains inventory of all necessary supplies for department. Participates in Quality Improvement Program for Exercise/Holter Laboratory. Maintains quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control in accordance with established hospital departmental policies, procedures, and objectives. Minimum Qualifications
Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island. Conforms to the Code of Professional Nurses. Understands the provisions of the Nurse Practice Act of the state of Rhode Island. Responsible for maintaining a current knowledge of contemporary Professional Nursing practice within the legal framework of the Nurse Practice Act. Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) required. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns in each step of the care process. EXPERIENCE: Two years of cardiac and cardiology experience including one year of telemetry experience required. Experience in diagnostic stress testing preferred. Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Healthcare environment such as acute care hospitals, physicians' offices and ancillary healthcare enterprises. Works with medical equipment and has direct patient contact. Any potential hazards are minimized by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions including use safety equipment and protective clothing. Prolonged sitting, standing, and walking. Exposed to all patient elements. May be required to lift/turn patients and equipment. Repeated bending, squatting, and stooping. Pay Range
$35.00-$70.00 Location
