Overview Reports to the Clinical Manager of PAT, under the supervision of the Attending Physician of Record. Develops and evaluates treatment plans for patients undergoing surgery with anesthesia. Assists in pre-surgical patient care including review of systems, medical and surgical history, medication reconciliation, and life‑saving emergency measures.
Responsibilities
Obtains medical and surgical histories and records physical examinations as needed.
Records review of systems, communicates issues with anesthesia and surgeon, and initiates life‑saving measures in emergencies.
Collaborates in developing a plan of care with patient, family, registered nurses, and attending physician.
Provides education and liaison support to health‑care team members and patients for post‑procedural care.
Interprets electrocardiograms and rhythm strips and performs Basic Life Support.
Assists in clinical research projects and participates in quality improvement teams and committees.
Maintains quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control as per hospital policies.
Qualifications
Licensed Registered Nurse in Rhode Island or via Nurse Licensure Compact, with prescriptive privileges.
Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with an MS degree.
Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
Experience
Clinical experience as a nurse practitioner for at least 2 years preferred.
Experience in patient care services, procedures and privileges approved by sponsoring physician.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements Clinic setting. Adherence to safety procedures minimizes physical hazards.
Pay Range $125,000.00 – $158,593.75 per year.
