Arcadis is seeking a highly motivated Principal Protection and Control Engineer to join our Power Delivery & Renewable team. This senior Lead Technical position interfaces with the Protection and Control Team within Power Delivery, with technical and project management assignments, project engineering, proposal management and business development. The candidate will oversee day-to-day client engagement, project and proposal coordination, project execution, resource planning, and hands-on technical solution work. The role ensures project execution in accordance with applicable codes and standards, and with Arcadis policies and procedures (Safety, Environmental, Quality Assurance and Quality Control). The incumbent will collaborate with other Power Delivery departments and Arcadis business divisions. The role involves coordinating the Power Delivery & Renewables (PD&R) team and performing hands-on protection & control engineering, detail design and studies for utility and developer clients in North America, including collaboration with other renewable energy teams (e.g., wind, solar, green hydrogen) within Arcadis. Role accountabilities
Manage and grow Protection and Control team working with Power Delivery & Renewables Leader and Manager of Protection and Control group; ensure resource planning and utilization on large/complex projects and perform quality reviews. Support, develop, and deliver utility, developer, and all aspects of clients’ projects from development conceptual one-line diagrams through detailed design and construction support. Coordinate with civil, structural, substation electrical, system planning and studies, SCADA/telecommunications, water, and geotechnical engineers to develop complete Issue For Construction design packages; review, perform, and QA all engineering studies necessary for detailed engineering packages. Act as Project Manager, Proposal Manager, Program Manager, Account Manager and Technical Lead to support services and grow Power Delivery clients and business in the region. Mentor junior team members; conduct QA/QC on work of other electrical engineers, designers, or technicians; participate in client, contractor, and vendor meetings to support business development and project execution. Collaborate with the PD&R Leader to develop client development plans, account growth, department growth, resource planning, winning and execution strategy, and financial performance to meet PD&R goals. Travel up to 20% to client sites and meetings within North America and potentially internationally. Qualifications & Experience
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in system protection schemes and relay and control engineering design, relay selection, interface requirements, and communication systems for AIS and GIS substations in utility-scale, developer, and/or large industrial facilities. Experience in Power Delivery Protection & Relay Control consultancy and understanding of power delivery, generation, and renewables business. Professional Engineer (PE) license Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., SKM, ASPEN, ETAP, CAPE, AcSELerator, WinIGS) and design experience adhering to NEC, NESC, IEEE standards, and local codes. Preferred Qualifications
