Marine Mechanic | Elevator Support Unit (ESU) – San Diego, CA. Join HII’s Mission Technologies Division as a Marine Mechanic to support contracted skilled trades work on weapon elevators and aircraft elevators and their systems on U.S. Navy ships. Travel within and outside the continental United States may be required. This is a full-time position located in San Diego, CA. What You Will Do

Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies shipboard elevator mechanical and hydraulic equipment. Performs maintenance and technical support on elevators and elevator doors, including equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer or field locations. Analyzes and evaluates elevator operations and related performance. Troubleshoots, diagnoses malfunctions, and maintains elevators to minimize downtime. Installs, upgrades and removes elevator and elevator door components ensuring coordinated engineering field change. Applies understanding of production processes toward completion of assignments. Interfaces with customers, manages subcontractors and provides work direction to others. Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports. Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management. May perform duties outside of specialty to complete installation or work assignment. What You Must Have

High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 4 years of related experience. Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty. Experience performing troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and testing of mechanical systems. Ability to read drawings and schematics. Ability to conduct on-site installation of equipment while following established safety, quality control and testing procedures. Ability to calibrate and make minor repairs on tools/equipment. Ability to obtain and maintain base access credentials. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Preferred: Bonus Points For

Experience related to maintenance and repair of shipboard aircraft elevator and/or ordnance handling equipment and vertical package conveyors. Experience in operation, repair and maintenance of marine electro-mechanical and/or hydraulic systems. Prior shipboard experience preferred. Current or active DoD secret clearance or higher preferred. Related technical training, degrees and/or certifications preferred. Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes (minimum 30 lbs or as required by the job). Able to climb ladders, work in extreme temperatures, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. May require working aloft or over the sides of vessels and riding ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside the continental United States. Compensation and Benefits
