Overview The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining Quality Assurance programs to ensure that products and processes comply with customer specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. This role requires hands-on experience in a regulated manufacturing environment—preferably within nuclear or similarly safety-critical industries—and involves managing day-to-day quality priorities, supporting audits, and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Implement, maintain, and update a comprehensive Quality Assurance Program (QAP)
aligned with standards such as ASME BPVC, NQA-1, 10CFR50 Appendix B, and ISO 9001.
Review and interpret customer specifications to develop job quality requirements
Conduct detailed reviews of Material Test Reports (MTR/CMTR)
and procured item certifications to ensure compliance.
Apply knowledge of
Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) techniques , with minimum proficiency in Penetrant Testing (PT/LPI).
Understand welding requirements as per
ASME Section IX , material traceability, and manufacturing processes.
Lead and support
internal, supplier, customer, and regulatory audits , including Nuclear Industry Assessment Committee (NIAC) reviews.
Coordinate with suppliers and customers on quality documentation, deviations, and inspections.
Support and manage
Commercial Grade Item Dedication (CGID)
activities.
Monitor product quality from raw material through finished goods, advising on compliance and necessary corrective actions.
Delegate and collaborate with other Quality Engineers and cross-functional teams
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical or metallurgical engineering (or related field)
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Quality Assurance, including hands-on experience managing a QAP in a regulated manufacturing environment
Experience with nuclear quality assurance standards preferred
Knowledge of ASME Section IX welding requirements and material traceability
Familiarity with Non-Destructive Examination (PT, LPI)
Experience with audits and lead auditor qualifications (NQA-1 preferred)
Strong communication and organizational skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Willingness to travel up to 15% domestically and internationally
Skills / Personal Qualifications
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving capabilities
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments and with external partners
Self-motivated and committed to continuous improvement and quality excellence
