Overview
Atlantic Health is seeking a board-certified full-time Physician Assistant (PA) for Surgical Services at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, New Jersey. The PA will join a hospital-based group with a team-based environment and exposure to multiple surgical subspecialties. This position emphasizes OR first assistant coverage, admissions, consults, rounding support, post-operative management, bedside procedures, and discharge of patients. There is a strong opportunity for growth and exposure to high-acuity patients and high-volume DaVinci Robotic Surgery cases. Responsibilities
OR First Assisting: coverage across General Surgery, Colorectal, Hepatobiliary, GYN/GynOnc, Urology, Head and Neck, Bariatric, Endocrine, and Thoracic surgeries, with DaVinci Robotic System utilization. Rounding Support: assist with rounding on pre- and post-operative patients across various specialties (general surgery, surgical oncology, bariatric, urology) in a team-based setting with attending physicians, residents, and students. Admissions/Consults: manage admissions and consults for patients in the emergency department and inpatient floors. Floor Procedures: perform procedures such as NG tube placement, difficult foley insertions, wound Vac changes, bedside I&D, and other indicated procedures. Post-operative and Discharge Planning: contribute to post-op care and discharge planning in collaboration with the care team. Documentation and Collaboration: work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care and continuity of care. Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program; NCCPA certified 1-3 years of surgical experience or surgical residency trained candidates preferred; new graduates will be considered Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in New Jersey ACLS and BLS required Completion of post-graduate surgical residency/fellowship is a plus DaVinci Certification is preferred Knowledgeable and comfortable with laparoscopic procedures Benefits
