Full‑time Surgical Physician Assistant – Northern Dutchess Hospital
The Surgical PA Service at Northern Dutchist Hospital is seeking a board‑certified full‑time Physician Assistant to join its team. We are a hospital‑based group offering a supportive, team‑based environment with exposure to multiple surgical subspecialties. Responsibilities include OR first‑assist coverage and peri‑operative management of patients on the general surgery service. This position offers growth opportunities with a high volume of DaVinci robotic surgery cases. Responsibilities
OR First Assisting – Assist in specialties including general, plastic, spine, bariatric, and OB/GYN. Rounding – Round on general surgery patients daily as part of a team‑based approach with attendings, residents, and students. Consults/Admissions – Cover admissions and consults for general surgeons. Night Coverage – On‑call from home; assist emergent OR cases, admissions, and consults for general surgery. Floor Procedures – Perform floor procedures such as NG tube insertion/removal, wound vac and dressing changes, bedside I&D. Cross‑coverage – Provide limited cross‑coverage between NDH PA services and Vassar Brothers Medical Center PA services. This position is four 10‑hour shifts per week with one weekend shift per month. An extensive onboarding and training period is provided. Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program and NCCPA certified. Strong surgical and patient‑management experience. One to three years of surgical experience preferred; new graduates and nurse practitioners with RNF certification and surgical experience will also be considered. Compensation & Benefits
