Supports the mission, philosophy, standards, goals and objectives of the institution, department and clinical service. Educates patient and family to facilitate healthy adjustment to new or changed health patterns. Evaluates treatment and health care plans for effectiveness and modifies per clinical standards and practice protocols. Performs delegated clinical duties effectively and efficiently. Practices as a member of the allied health staff according to the Medical Staff bylaws and delineation of privileges. Prescribes medical equipment, devices, physical and occupational therapy, and home health services per practice protocol. Prescribes in-patient and discharge medications according to New York State law, including controlled substances with DEA authorization. Maintains professional qualifications and board certification; participates in professional development and CME requirements. Coordinates implementation of clinical research studies or clinical trials, including patient screening, enrollment and data collection where applicable. Works collaboratively with nursing and other disciplines in the development and implementation of clinical studies within the area of expertise. Uses evidence-based health care literature to advise and support appropriate practice changes within the designated service. Participates in the development and monitoring of patient outcomes per established practice protocols for quality and performance improvement. Serves as a clinical expert and resource for education of peers and other health professionals. Maintains current expertise in area of practice and promotes own professional growth and development in the clinical role. Functions as a respectful member of the health care team and participates in activities related to professional physician assistant practice standards. Facilitates patient throughput and efficient processes during admission and discharge while ensuring continuity of care across the continuum of services. Provides consultation about the therapeutic regimen to the nursing staff and maintains timely communication with family members, house staff, and other disciplines. Plans and organizes care to meet individual patient needs and ensures appropriate clinical resource utilization per protocols and pathways. Additional Position Specific Responsibilities
“Physician Assistants working at the Helen L. & Martin S. Kimmel Hyperbaric and Advanced Wound Healing Center” will have additional duties as outlined in the policy for the Hyperbaric Center. Minimum Qualifications
Physician Assistant Bachelor\'s Degree (BA-PA). Current New York State Physician Assistant License. NCCPA Board Certification. Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association. Required Licenses
Physician Assistant Lic-NYS, National Certification, Basic Life Support. Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Life Support certification (ACLS, PALS) or Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (NRP) may be required based on privileges. Membership in pertinent professional organizations preferred. Qualified candidates must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. Salary and Benefits
NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Salary Transparency Law. The salary range for the role is $97,589.95 - $117,000.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on factors including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The listed range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, or other compensation or benefits.
