With 388 beds, it is the second largest of Duke Health's four hospitals and offers a comprehensive range of medical, surgical, and diagnostic services, including orthopedics, weight-loss surgery, women's services, and heart and vascular services. Work Week:

Monday-Friday, with shared on-call responsibilities evenings, holidays, and occasionally weekends. Job Summary:

Coordinate and participate in technical tasks, tests, and determinations involving radioactive materials and measurement instrumentation. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Perform in vivo and in vitro studies; operate radiation detection and measurement instruments including stationary imaging devices, scintillation gamma, and in vitro apparatus. Calibrate and prepare radiopharmaceuticals for patient administration; review calibration data and calculate results of patient studies and radioactive decay. Evaluate recorded images for technical quality and process computerized image data, including SPECT images. Provide physical and psychological care for patients during examinations; initiate life support if necessary. Maintain inventory and records of radiopharmaceuticals, including receipt, dispensing, and disposal activities. Guide and train radiologic technology students and new employees. Monitor for contamination using portable survey meters. Perform EKG preparations and tracings. Assist in developing new procedures, consult with physicians, and administer thyroid therapy under supervision. Contribute to quality assurance and educational programs for staff and physicians. Qualifications: Graduate or completed a program meeting eligibility for registry/certification, or currently hold required registry or certification. ARRT (N) or NMTCB certification within 18 months of employment. BLS certification. Knowledge of radiation safety, office software, and IV management skills. Experience: Level I: No experience required beyond education/certification; must obtain ARRT or NMTCB certification within 18 months. Level II: Minimum of two years' experience as a Nuclear Medicine technologist. Level III: At least four years' experience in the specialty modality.
