Overview
Description: As an Internal Corrosion Engineer or Specialist Sr. at Williams, you will lead efforts to address internal corrosion issues, applying your expertise in corrosion control mechanisms, monitoring, testing, and mitigation strategies. You will collaborate with Technical Services and Operations to ensure compliance with company requirements, industry standards, and regulations. Additionally, you will prepare and deliver presentations, build improvement plans, update company standards, and maintain a strong understanding of safety requirements. Note:
This description reflects the responsibilities and qualifications for the internal corrosion engineering role and related seniority levels. Responsibilities/Expectations
Performs moderately difficult assignments to ensure system integrity, support pipeline operations, maintain compliance and facility equipment Troubleshoots/resolves sophisticated problems using technical evaluation, innovation and judgment Develops, presents and trains internal and external partners; may mentor others Participates in project planning and works closely with company partners Leads development and tasks associated with operations, equipment maintenance, technical standards and/or governmental requirements Reads, understands and evaluates engineering design documents, contracts and agreements Serves as the Internal Corrosion Subject Matter Expert, supporting various teams and external customers to ensure effective corrosion control Manages internal corrosion control programs, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations, optimizing costs, and coordinating with local personnel on maintenance and environmental concerns Oversees the internal corrosion database, process data, generate reports, and collaborate with local personnel to resolve issues Ensures compliance with industry standards (DOT 192/195, API, INGAA, NACE/AMPP, PRCI); collaborate with industry groups and company teams to develop and maintain guidelines, and deliver training to support the enterprise Conducts audits to ensure continual compliance with Company Operating Requirements and Regulatory Requirements Other duties as assigned Education/Years of Experience
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant Engineering field from an accredited college or university, OR Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology in a relevant field with Professional Engineer (P.E.) license; a minimum eight (8) years of multifaceted engineering experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with minimum seven (7) years of progressive engineering experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry; PE Certification Other Requirements
Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as a main priority Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills Proficiency in engineering specialties covering more than one subject area Preferred: Project Management experience In-depth knowledge of internal corrosion control mechanisms, monitoring, testing, inspection, and mitigation strategies, including specialty chemical requirements for wet natural gas gathering, hazardous liquids, and processing operations (sweetening and dehydration) both onshore and offshore Gulf of Mexico US Operations; thorough knowledge within 49 CFR 192 and 195 Strong technical writing capabilities to formulate logical, risk-based recommendations and internal corrosion management plans based on sound economic principles Aptitude for database and GIS applications Business Intelligence skills (e.g., Power BI, Pi Vision), including analysis and metrics reporting Preferred: Current NACE/AMPP Senior Internal Corrosion Technologist certification Preferred: Specialty chemical vendor/lab experience Preferred: 10+ years of responsible charge designing, executing, and performing internal corrosion control monitoring and mitigation responsibilities for a pipeline operator Seniority level
