Overview

Cardiac Electrophysiology Technician 3 (U) – University of Miami. Assists physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular disease and cardiac arrhythmias in an invasive procedure arena, specializing in the care of patients undergoing cardiac and vascular procedures. Responsibilities

Performs basic diagnostic catheterization procedures on adult patients with known and suspected congenital and acquired cardiac and peripheral vascular disease. Performs basic interventional procedures which may include PCTA, stent prep and placement, IABP placement and operation. Performs basic EP procedures which may include EP studies, implantation of pacemaker, ICD, BIV ICD and ablations. Operates physiologic and radiographic equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Maintains established professional standards and observes all safety requirements to achieve a high level of quality patient care. Maintains good communication with the patient and continually evaluates the patient\'s status during the procedure, provides age- and gender-specific care, preps access site according to lab standard practice. Performs EKG lead placement, blood pressure and pulse oximetry setup for hemodynamic monitoring. Responsible for procedure room preparation and breakdown duties including fluid preparation with accurate drug concentrations, stocking rooms, narcotic counts, daily QC checks, radiographic, hemodynamic and computer setup, and room cleanup. Prepares sterile procedure tray and patient sterile field appropriately for specified procedure type. Observes occupational and radiation safety regulations; wears all required personal protective equipment (badges, lead aprons, goggles, gloves) when required. Acquires and accurately documents pertinent patient data on encounter form and enters hemodynamic and X-ray systems. Assists physician with EP diagnostic and mapping systems which include Carto, NavX and others. Maintains sterile procedures and infection control, observes all fluid patency of catheters, balloons and manifolds, and assists according to physician direction. Core Qualifications

Minimum 3 Years Of Relevant Experience Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines. Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
