This role supports invasive cardiovascular procedures in the CathLab, EP Lab, and Hybrid OR, specializing in care for patients undergoing angioplasty, stent placement, vascular procedures, EP devices, cardiac ablations, and tilt table exams. Responsibilities
Assist the physician during invasive and noninvasive procedures to treat cardiac and peripheral vascular disease and cardiac arrhythmias; maintain high standards of quality patient care; communicate with the physician about the patient's condition. Perform diagnostic catheterization and interventional procedures (e.g., PTCA, stent prep/placement, IABP placement and operation) and EP procedures (e.g., EP studies, pacemaker/ICD implantation, ablations, tilt table exams). Prepare and manage procedural rooms, including radiographic, hemodynamic, and computer setup; maintain sterile fields and supply appropriate needs for Cath Lab/EP Lab teams. Monitor and document patient status during procedures; provide age- and gender-specific care; set up EKG leads and hemodynamic monitoring. Document patient data in electronic health records and imaging systems; ensure equipment readiness and compliance with safety regulations (radiation safety, dosimeters, lead protection). Educate patients about procedure expectations, post-procedural instructions, and restrictions; participate in performance improvement activities. Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an associate or baccalaureate program in health science (e.g., cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy) or related field with certificate in cardiovascular technology/ultrasound/radiology/respiratory. Experience: No experience required. Licensure/ Certifications: RCIS, RCES, ARRT certifications as listed; IBHRE certifications within 36 months of employment; Basic Life Support; Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 6 months (Adult Cath, Adult EP, Hybrid OR). Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: fine motor skills; ability to communicate effectively; computer literacy; patient and team communication; endurance for standing and walking; infection control and safety; regulatory compliance; pre-employment physical capacity testing.
