Summary of Job Duties The APRN/PA is a skilled healthcare provider who has completed an educational program that provides specialized certification and is regulated by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing or the Arkansas State Medical Board. The role involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating pediatric patients and families as a key member of the care team.
Responsibilities
Provide direct clinical services for patients according to established protocols and evidence‑based standards in collaboration with physicians.
Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, and interpret hemodynamic data.
Document findings and order diagnostic and laboratory tests.
Formulate and implement treatment plans for acute and chronic illnesses in collaboration with the physician.
Document in medical records appropriately and maintain family‑centered care.
Utilize current research and evidence‑based decision‑making in all clinical practice.
Participate in staff education and educate APRN/PA students, residents, and fellows.
Provide leadership and professional interaction within the team.
Coordinate with families regarding care and progress in person, telephone, or email.
Communicate with others with mutual respect and professional demeanor.
Adhere to all standard policies and procedures.
Participate in quality improvement or research projects as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications APRN
Graduate from an accredited nursing program with at least a Master’s in Nursing.
National Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse; may hold a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification in acute or primary care.
PA
Graduate from an accredited physician assistant program defined by the Arkansas State Medical Board.
Current Arkansas Physician Assistant license.
Preferred Qualifications
Basic Life Support (BLS).
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Salary Information Commensurate with education and experience.
