Under the supervision of a Senior Bridge Engineer in Structure Construction, Division of Engineering Services, the Transportation Engineer (Civil) is an entry to journeyman level professional engineering role within Caltrans. Responsibilities include performing a wide range of engineering tasks in office and field settings, primarily on highway construction projects involving bridges, walls, barriers, drainage structures, and sign structures. The role involves ensuring contractor compliance with contract documents and may include acting as an Assistant Structure Representative or Resident Engineer. A valid California Professional Engineer license is highly desirable for structural projects. Working Conditions
This statewide position may involve travel and rotations through various project delivery units, including design and construction. The rotation program lasts 24-33 months and aims to develop comprehensive project delivery skills. Minimum Qualifications
