Construction Contract Quality Engineer (Electrical) – Transportation Engineer Division of Engineering Services (DES), Program/Project Management and Office Engineer (PPM&OE) – Office of Construction Contract Advertisement & Quality Program (OCCA&QP) is recruiting for a Transportation Engineer (Electrical) position in Sacramento.

Responsibilities

Perform Independent Quality Assurance (IQA) review of electrical construction contract documents during project advertisement per Best Bid Standards (BBS).

Assist district personnel in finalizing contract documents and conduct Independent Assurance (IA) reviews of projects after construction completion.

Develop, update, and maintain manuals, guidance documents, and training materials for the Construction Contract Quality Management Program.

Minimum Qualifications

Required education or experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET‑accredited) and professional experience in electrical design or construction of highway projects.

Experience in preparing or reviewing electrical PS&E, conducting electrical quality reviews, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

Possession of a valid driver’s license; a Professional Engineering (PE) license (Electrical) is required for Range D positions.

Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) – typed, 1 page, single‑spaced, 12‑point font, addressing the required SOQ questions.

Preferred Qualifications

Success in the Transportation Engineer (Electrical) written hurdle exam.

Experience with Caltrans’ BBS and quality management systems.

Ability to develop and deliver training materials.
