The Assistant Director of Technology oversees the design, development, and operations of the district’s technological systems. This leadership role involves configuring and maintaining all district‑wide servers, services, and network security appliances. The position is responsible for providing leadership, mentoring, and direct supervision to the technology team to ensure the department’s daily operations align with district goals. Key responsibilities include designing, monitoring, and maintaining the district’s physical, virtual, and cloud‑based network systems, implementing and managing a range of network and security tools, monitoring cybersecurity threats, administering email and collaborative systems, and maintaining enterprise disaster recovery and backup procedures.

Required Qualifications

Associates degree or equivalent technical training in Computer and Network Technology.

Five years experience in network maintenance, with at least three years in maintenance and troubleshooting of TCP/IP networks serving multi‑platform clients.

Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network systems, including physical, virtual, and cloud‑based infrastructures.

Must possess a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (upon employment).

Background clearance (upon employment).

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.

Experience in K‑8 technology educational programs.

Familiarity with School ERP Pro accounting software.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Directly supervise, coach, and evaluate technology team members.

Oversee daily operations and workflow of the technology department to ensure efficiency and alignment with district goals.

Troubleshoot and repair network problems related to connectivity, software, and security issues.

Monitor switches, routers, firewalls, and connectivity to and from the district ISP.

Maintain external DNS services.

Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot district email system, from server to client.

Lead planning and installation of network equipment, including Wi‑Fi for district technology needs.

Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain all servers and related administrative services.

Design, monitor, and maintain physical, virtual, and cloud‑based network systems, including configuration of TCP/IP protocols and database environments.

Implement and manage a range of network and security tools and services to support and protect district technology infrastructure.

Establish and maintain fault tolerance, backup, and disaster recovery procedures for all systems.

Monitor and maintain system and network security and virus detection and provide monthly status reports to the Director of Technology.

Monitor and respond to cybersecurity threats, employing current tools and strategies to protect systems and data across the district, including staff training.

Design and maintain documentation for all systems and equipment, including software licenses, and network logical/physical designs.

Maintain and support collaborative tools across multiple platforms to ensure reliable communication and information sharing.

Support district web‑based platforms using modern web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and content delivery networks (CDNs).

Assist with network‑attached physical security systems, including access controls and CCTV.

Assist with vendor and product selection related to technology systems and services.

Assist with training in the use of technology resources.

Responsible for maintaining district services investigations for web filtering, student and staff organizational structuring including Google Apps for Education and Visions account controls and security.

Perform other duties as assigned.
