We are BD, a leading global medical technology company dedicated to improving patient outcomes. The Senior Supply Chain Manager will lead end‑to‑end supply chain operations at the Sumter, SC plant, ensuring product availability, supply chain excellence, and continuous improvement.
Critical Functions And Responsibilities
Direct and manage all financial and human resource activities for the Supply Chain Department, reporting to the Plant Manager.
Ensure excellence in plant‑wide supply chain processes, enabling product and component availability for BD sister plants and business partners.
Advisory role on business trends, cross‑functional synergistic opportunities, product flow scenarios, and strategic/tactical planning to optimize revenue.
Lead purchasing of raw materials, component parts, MRO materials, and capital equipment, overseeing issuance of purchase orders, change notices, and establishing lead times.
Guide and coordinate Purchasing and Supplier Quality personnel toward quick and efficient corrective action processing of non‑conforming raw materials.
Validate demand through demand debriefs, align with Global Supply Chain groups on volume or mix, and recommend schedule changes that optimize equipment, personnel, and materials.
Facilitate planning discussions with global supply chain to balance plant efficiencies and forecast requests, reviewing master production schedules and ensuring capacity alignment.
Oversee new supplier search and cost reduction programs, working with OCP for One Company Procurement managed materials.
Execute end‑to‑end supply chain leadership, supervising three managers (Inbound, Outbound, Planning), coaching for improvement, and representing the Sumter plant in integrated reconciliation meetings.
Manage quantitative and qualitative goals and strategies for the Supply Chain, coach managers on strategy definition, and support transformation initiatives such as digitalization and Control Tower.
Perform other duties as required by Sumter Plant Manager and travel up to 25%.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
BS Degree in Business, Engineering, or relevant field.
Minimum 10 years of experience performing a similar role within a manufacturing setting; 15 years preferred.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and ambiguity handling skills.
Proficient with SAP and APRISO systems.
Work Environment
BD is a smoke‑free campus; smoking, electronic smoking devices, marijuana, or tobacco products are not allowed on BD property.
All associates must wear Steel Toe, non‑slip footwear for safety on the production floor.
In‑office presence is required for a minimum of 4 days per week; remote or field‑based positions will have different arrangements.
Full COVID‑19 vaccination is required for certain roles; accommodation requests will be considered per law.
