Summary
Under general supervision, supervises daily operations and staff of the Travel Management and Care Coordination Departments. Responsibilities include providing leadership and guidance on policies and procedures, setting goals and priorities, developing training plans, coaching staff, and ensuring adequate staffing and scheduling. The role coordinates with ANMC providers, case managers and regional healthcare organizations to arrange patient travel, lodging and transportation, and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations. Acts as a subject matter expert in Medicaid regulations and assists customers and staff with prior authorization, transportation billing, and travel arrangements. The position participates in planning and committees, analyzes processes and results, and coordinates services with other agencies to resolve concerns. It also oversees documentation quality, prepares presentations and reports, manages project budgets and contracts, and supports safety and disaster plans. Directly oversees the ANMC Patient Shuttle Program and Patient Ground Transportation functions, including route/schedule changes, inventory management, invoicing, and coordination with taxi/ride-share accounts. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Includes knowledge of customer service concepts, HIPAA/privacy rules, insurance (including Medicaid/Medicare), medical terminology, purchasing and travel preparation, Alaska Native culture and Tribal Health System, quality improvement concepts, budgeting and policy development, safety procedures for shuttles, and incident management. Demonstrates strong leadership and staff development, communication, problem solving, confidentiality, and cross-functional collaboration. Proficient in computer software and able to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
Education and Experience
Minimum Education Qualification: A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Office Management, Administration, or a related field. Related experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis. Minimum Experience Qualification: Non-supervisory – four (4) years of customer service or similar work with significant phone use; Supervisory – two (2) years of supervising customer service, travel management, State Medicaid Office or similar work. Minimum Certification Qualification: N/A. Preferred Experience Qualification: Four (4) years of supervisory experience.
