Overview
Location: Alexandria, VA Pay: We offer competitive pay for RN Supervisors starting at $50 per hour plus shift differentials. About The Position: As the RN Supervisor, you are primarily responsible for the planning, coordination and direction of Small House Health Care Center on a designated shift in order to provide and maintain a high level of quality resident care. The RN Supervisor functions as a clinical resource person who coordinates communication with the physician in order to direct resident care on a designated shift. You are directly responsible for the quality of nursing care administered to residents within clinical areas of responsibility, and you actively support the nursing process to maintain quality resident care and evaluate level of care.

Key Duties
Consistently provides clinical care with professionalism and compassion in accordance with State and Federal regulations and Goodwin Living standards.
Assesses and communicates information about safety of resident care and the clinical environment and equipment.
Participates in environmental rounds and safety/emergency drills.
Demonstrates competence in clinical areas within one’s scope of practice; anticipates resident needs and refers complex care to the nursing supervisor and/or physician.
Manages residents’ unexpected emergencies and administers medications.
Coordinates and implements resident care; maintains relationships with outside health agencies and other Goodwin Living departments.
Maintains effective communication with team members; provides timely performance feedback and appraisals.
Identifies and addresses unacceptable performance or behavior; applies disciplinary procedures as appropriate and maintains documentation.
Coordinates breaks and meals to ensure coverage of resident areas.
Participates in orientation and training of new and current team members.
Provides clear direction to the nursing staff and communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team, residents and families.
Qualifications
Current licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia or compact state required.
Minimum of two years’ nursing supervisory experience.
Gerontological nursing educational background or pursuing gerontological certification.
Ability to teach residents, families and staff; commitment to ongoing professional development.
Demonstrated managerial ability and sound clinical skills.
CPR certification required.
Ability to interact tactfully with staff, patients, families and others.
