Provides empathetic pharmacy consulting services to patients regarding the effective use of medications and drug interaction awareness. Offers preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcome services. Ensures prescribed medications are compounded, reviewed, dispensed, and verified accurately according to regulatory guidelines and company policies and procedures. Manages an efficient pharmacy workflow and improves pharmacy financials, manages inventory effectively, and enhances patient experience. Manages pharmacy staff performance and engagement. Ensures the professional development of pharmacy staff by overseeing training, focused coaching, and executing formal performance management initiatives. Responsibilities

Patient Experience

Engages patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves patient issues in a timely manner and answers questions to ensure a positive patient experience. Models and shares customer service best practices to deliver a distinctive and joyful patient experience and demonstrates empathy and inclusivity. Connects with patients by anticipating needs and offering services; promotes the shift from transactional to interpersonal pharmacy roles. Participates in events that reflect the communities we serve as requested by leadership.

Operations

Counsels patients on usage of medicine, side effects, interactions, and privacy considerations; refers to medical providers when needed. Performs pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management; reviews and dispenses prescribed medications. Ensures regulatory compliance and operational standards; oversees staff scheduling and shift changes; maintains pharmacy open/close procedures. Ensures Good Faith Dispensing elements comply with state and federal laws; supports process improvements and workflow efficiency. Collaborates with Store Manager to define strategic opportunities; maintains pharmacy IT knowledge and supports staff with technology. Processes insurance claims accurately and addresses payor issues; participates in third-party audits as needed. Follows up with providers on prescriptions, dosages, refills, interactions, and allergies to optimize therapy. Conducts clinical and wellness services (immunizations, disease state management, etc.). Manages pharmacy maintenance, housekeeping, and layout for an efficient operation. Prepares and submits required records and reports per regulations.

People & Performance Management

Collaborates with Store Manager on hiring, discipline, and compliance with employment laws. Establishes expectations and goals, promotes teamwork, and recognizes improvements; conducts performance reviews. Identifies high-potential team members and supports career progression. Addresses employee relations concerns and maintains positive team morale.

Training & Personal Development

Maintains required licensing/credentialing; pursues ongoing professional development. Keeps current knowledge in pharmacy and healthcare; pursues best practices to enhance performance. Completes required education credits and training; seeks feedback and mentorship.

Communications

Supports leadership with communicating health and wellness services and strategy to staff.

Business Performance Management

Analyzes performance data, manages inventory, and oversees asset protection; identifies improvement opportunities.

Business Planning

Develops relationships with local medical community and promotes health and wellness within the community; supports growth opportunities.

Basic Qualifications

BS in Pharmacy or Pharm D from an accredited institution. Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the district. Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire. At least 1 year of pharmacy experience including prescription filling, recordkeeping, compliance, operations, software, and insurance billing. Experience in dispensing medications with knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws. Average leadership rating of 3.0 or higher on last performance review if available, with no disciplinary actions in the last 12 months (internal candidates). About Walgreens

Supervisory experience and ability to plan, organize, and direct pharmacy staff. At least 6 months of pharmacy experience with Walgreens.
