Overview
Professional Engineer 1 (Civil/Transportation) – Albany, NY. This role focuses on the collection and analysis of condition and maintenance data for the Authority’s infrastructure and forecast of life cycle considerations to support the 5-year Capital Program for highway, bridge, and related assets. Responsibilities
Prepare and/or update charts, tables, dashboards, and reports to maintain work, cost, and condition history for highway segments, bridges, and other assets. Review bridge inspection reports and develop long-range plans to address projected needs of structures. Review plans, assess infrastructure conditions, and prepare estimates to support scoping memorandums for bridge or highway repair, rehabilitation, and reconstruction projects of varying complexity. Coordinate the annual pavement survey, including training of consultants and review of rating data. Perform other engineering duties to support the Bureau of Infrastructure Management as requested. Demonstrate knowledge of current New York State design standards, procedures, and specifications, including relevant manuals and AASHTO guidelines. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications Current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service to a Grade 23 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the NYS Civil Service Law. NYS Professional Engineer’s license with current registration is required for transfer candidates. NY HELPS Qualifications A NYS Professional Engineer’s license and current registration AND a qualifying bachelor's degree or higher as listed, OR a NYS Professional Engineer’s license and current registration AND one year of qualifying engineering experience. Qualifying degrees include Civil Engineering and related disciplines; qualifying experience includes one year of full-time engineering work on transportation projects. This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
