Provides empathetic pharmacy consulting services to patients regarding the effective use of medications and drug interaction awareness. Offers preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcome services. Ensures prescribed medications are compounded, reviewed, dispensed, and verified accurately according to regulatory guidelines and company policies and procedures. Manages an efficient pharmacy workflow and improves pharmacy financials, manages inventory effectively, and enhances patient experience. Manages pharmacy staff performance and engagement. Ensures the professional development of pharmacy staff by overseeing training, focused coaching, and executing formal performance management initiatives. Responsibilities
Engages patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves patient issues in a timely manner and answers questions to ensure a positive patient experience. Models and shares customer service best practices to deliver a distinctive and joyful patient experience, including interpersonal habits that show care and Walgreens service traits. Connects with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services, including patient consultation, medication management, drug therapy reviews, and wellness services such as immunizations and diagnostic testing. Participates in events reflecting the communities served as requested by supervisory leadership. Counsels patients on usage, side effects, interactions, contraindications, privacy, generics, cost considerations, and OTC products. Refers to medical providers as needed. Performs pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management. Reviews, interprets, and dispenses prescribed medications per regulations. Ensures the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations and policies. Oversees staffing, scheduling, workflows, and open/close procedures. Follows Good Faith Dispensing policy and applicable laws when filling prescriptions. Ensures elements of Good Faith are present. Collaborates with Store Manager to identify strategic business opportunities. Maintains knowledge of pharmacy systems, workflow, billing, documentation, inventory, and POS. Supports staff and patients with IT needs and seeks productivity improvements. Ensures insurance claims are processed accurately and resolves patient issues with insurers and providers. Participates in third-party audits as needed. Communicates with medical providers about prescriptions, dosages, refills, interactions, and allergies; discusses alternative medications if appropriate. Performs immunizations and other clinical services as applicable. Manages maintenance and improvement of the pharmacy department, including equipment, layout, and housekeeping. Prepares and submits records and reports required by state and federal laws to operate the pharmacy business. People & Performance Management
Collaborates with Store Manager on hiring, discipline, and ensuring compliance with employment laws. Sets expectations and goals, promotes teamwork, and recognizes improvements through rewards programs. Oversees training and formal performance reviews. Identifies high-potential team members and supports career progression in collaboration with Store Manager. Addresses employee relations concerns and maintains morale by addressing complaints and conflicts. Training & Personal Development
Maintains required licensing/credentials to provide clinical services. Keeps knowledge current with pharmacy and healthcare developments; pursues best practices to enhance performance. Completes required education credits and training; seeks professional development with mentorship from supervisors and managers. Communication
Supports Store Manager by communicating relevant corporate health and wellness information to pharmacy staff. Business Performance & Planning
Analyzes performance data (pharmacy financials, customer service, inventory); manages asset protection and identifies improvement opportunities. Develops and maintains relationships with local medical professionals and communities to promote health services and growth opportunities. Basic Qualifications
BS in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited institution. Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the district. Certified Immunizer or willingness to become one within 90 days of hire. At least 1 year of pharmacy experience including prescription filling, recordkeeping, compliance, operations, software, and insurance billing. Experience with prescription dispensing and knowledge of applicable federal and state laws. Internal candidates: average leadership rating of at least 3.0 with no disciplinary actions in the last 12 months. About Walgreens
